Welcome to Autistically Minded

Hi 😊

Welcome to the Autistically Minded blog.

My purpose in writing this blog is to contribute to awareness-raising about the autistic mind.

I’m a Counsellor/Psychotherapist who has worked in the areas of Intellectual Disability, Addiction Counselling, Lecturing/Training, and CBT Private Practice for over 30 years, specialising in an individualised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy approach. I’ve particularly worked a lot with behavioural addictions and with anxiety problems.

I’m proudly autistic myself, having discovered the autistic nature of my own mind late in life (2012, age 53). I first encountered autism as a theoretical and therapeutic issue in my work as a psychotherapist & lecturer (I was already carrying some family questions…). Then later I discovered the autistic mind “from the inside”, when I realised that my life made so much more sense once I understood that I’m autistic. I then continued to explore the area professionally - I work increasingly with autistic adult clients and the issues arising from their experiences (Social Anxiety, Depression, Low Self-Esteem, cPTSD, etc).

Hope you find the blog useful...
